More About Texas

I don't know why I thought I could fit all of the Texas trip into one entry. After all, everything is big in Texas, right?

On our way out of the great state of Texas, we stopped in a little town called Pecos which boasts its claim to fame as being the first organized rodeo in the west. It was charming town with a Mexican flair. The West of the Pecos Museum was an unexpected gem we came across while on our way to Carlsbad. The museum was once a saloon and then the Orient Hotel. In the bar room, the original bar was still there. It was a gorgeous piece of craftsmanship. Plaques in the floor designate the spots where two men were shot and killed in the saloon by the same man. Bullet holes were still visible on the wall. Room after room of the three-story museum was filled with a chronicle of the history of Pecos from the days of pioneers and cowboys, to pioneer doctors, and rodeo memorabilia. For $4 per person, it was certainly a worthy stop where we spend about and hour and a half enjoying our little trip back in time.

  1. I'm really enjoying reading your blog. Looks like all is well. Meri and I just got back from our workshop with Page Keeley. It was really great. Take care.
